Who am I?

My name is Dan Landry, I graduated from Dalhousie University’s College of Pharmacy in 2009 and have had experience working in both the hospital and community settings. In 2015, I completed an additional certification in antimicrobial stewardship through the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists. Since then, I’ve been working as an infectious diseases pharmacist at the Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, NB, Canada. My job allows me to be on the front lines of optimizing the use of antibiotics in the province of New Brunswick, and to help create guides to helps other clinicians.
I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to present at provincial and national conferences on infectious diseases topics, I’ve also spoken to high school students about my job, and have even helped create a public information campaign on COVID-19 vaccines on YouTube with my employer. So I have a very broad background of different settings of public speaking on healthcare related topics.
One of my favorite things to do at work is talking to patients about their medications and their health. A primary goal is always to ensure that my patients are well informed about their health; this way they can be more confident in becoming a partner in their own care.
I’ve always told students that a good barometer for how well you understand something is if you can then explain the concepts to someone who is not a healthcare professional. I’ve always taken this to heart, and my goal is to ensure that more people can be confident in being more involved in their own healthcare.
